Episode 2: The Boat Game
We meet Iya, one of the students from Russia. Like many others, Iya came to camp to be challenged and partake in exciting activities. She reflects on the life lessons learned so far at the Champittet Summer Leadership Camp, and we encounter a new and exciting challenge- the boat game.
Campers split into teams and build a boat out of cardboard; sounds easy, right? But have you ever tried to build a cardboard boat that you can paddle at lake Geneva? It’s not as simple as it sounds, but good thing students are well prepared with skills learned so far during the leadership sessions.
In this challenge, as in life, it’s super important to first make a plan, and then execute it. As teams start to design and construct their boats, the weather changes and the wind picks up. Captains have to battle small waves and crosswinds, all while hoping that the carefully engineered boats won’t sink! As students start to take leadership roles and work together, personal development and growth becomes evident, and, most importantly, many smiles are present!
